SSU beat CRAU by 25 runs in 4th Plate Tournament

Imphal, March 24 2018: SSU, Singjamei defeated CRAU, Khamnam Bazar by 25 runs today in the ongoing 4th Plate Cricket tournament organised by Manipur Cricket Association at Langthabal Public ground.

Electing to bat first, SSU batsmen scored a competitive 159 for 7 in 35 overs.

Abishek led from the front scoring an unbeaten 75 runs off 71 balls while Bunny (27), Garu (19) and Dinesh (18) displayed sensible batting to help their team post a respectable total.

CRAU bowlers Manglem and Rakesh took 2 wickets each while Somit Dev and Ajay registered 1 wicket each in their names.

Chasing 160, Rakesh gave a solid start for CRAU scoring 49 off 71 balls but failed to finish off the proceedings.

Middle order batsmen Anil played some superb shots adding 28 runs off 45 balls while Manglem also added another 10 runs off 13 balls but none of batsmen remained at the crease for long and were bowled out at 134 in 35 overs.

Navjot gave the crucial breakthrough for SSU enjoying 6-wicket haul in 7 overs while Dilip took 2 wickets in 7 overs and Rohit fetched 1 wicket in their names.

Navjot was declared man of the match for his 6 wickets haul.

TCMDC will meet YUC tomorrow at the same ground.
