Santosh Trophy: Manipur stay unbeaten

Manipur maintained their lead in Group A despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Jammu & Kashmir in the 78th Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2024-25 at Deccan Arena, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Naoroibam Romen Singh gave Manipur the lead during first-half injury time (45+2') with a deft header off a Shunjanthan Ragui freekick.
The state squad continued to dominate in the second half, applying consistent pressure on Jammu & Kashmir.
Loyangamba Meitei Akoijam came close to doubling their advantage on two occasions, but was unable to convert cut-backs delivered from the flanks inside the box.
These squandered opportunities proved costly as, in injury time (90+1), Aakif Javaid capitalised on a corner to head in the equaliser, bringing the match level.
The result sees Manipur stay atop the Group A stand ings with seven from three games, followed by West Bengal (6 pts), who are second on six points from two matches.
Services occupy third spot with three points from two outings.
