PSWAS clinch 9-a-side football title

Kakching, January 18 2022: PSWAS, Sangai-yumpham beat Nine Legent, Wangkhem by a 2-1 margin in the final of the 3 Days District Level 9-a-side Open Football Tournament held at Puleipokpi Playground, Sangaiyumpham on Tuesday.

The tournament was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal and District Election Officer, Thoubal in collaboration with Puleipokpi Social Welfare Association Sangaiyumpham to promote the message of fitness for young voters and SVEEP messages of ethical, informed voting, promotion of ECI's C VIGIL App and 1950 voter helpline in light of upcoming Manipur State Assembly Elections 2022.The tournament began on January 16, 2022 as part of Physical Fitness Day observation of National Youth Week of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal.

A total of 12 teams took part in the competition and the teams also carriedout a 'Youth for Peace Rally' on January 17, the main day of the tournament.

Presidium members of the opening ceremony were Md Nashimudin, president PSWAS, Md Anwar, general secretary PSWAS, Md Firoj khan, K Lokendro Singh, advisor NYK Thoubal, S Singhajit Singh, Kh Doren Singh, N Pilot Singh and I Tondonba Meitei.

The closing function was attended by Michael Thangminlien Mate, district youth officer NYK/ SVEEP Nodal Officer Thoubal and K Lokendro Singh, DACYP member NYK Thoubal, andMd Anwar, general secretary PSWAS as presidium members.

As part of SVEEP campaign, 'I AM READY TO VOTE' T-shirts were given to best player of the tournament Md Danis of PSWAS, best midfielder Md Aris Khan of 9 LEGENT, best goalkeeper Md Suraj of PSWAS, best defender Md Mustakhan of 9 LEGENT, top scorer of tournament Md Danis of PSWAS (6 goals).

The presidium members also spoke on the importance of exercising our constitutional right to vote judiciously.
