SSI's annual athletic meet begins

Imphal, December 14 2016: 42nd Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Imphal (SSI) was inaugurated by Francis Marwein, Director of SAI, NERC.

The senior most cadet of the school rallied with the Torch Flame from Imphal International Airport � where the school was initially set up in 1971, to SSI athletics ground, informed a statement issued by the PIB (Defence), Imphal.

Marwein during his inaugural speech, highlighted the importance of games and sports in schools for the overall development of students.

Taking note of the achievements of cadets of SSI in the field of sports, he appreciated the comprehensive education being provided by Sainik Schools to its pupils.

He urged the cadets to work hard with honesty and determination to achieve goals in life.

He commended the performance of the cadets after review of march past and the gymnastics displayed by them.

The sports meet that commenced today will conclude in the presence of L Sarita Devi, the ace pugilist of India, on December 17, it added.
