2nd Araang League open to begin from December 5

Ukhrul, October 08 2015: The much awaited 2nd edition of Araang League Open Football Tournament, 2015 will begin from December 5 at Ukhrul.

In a press meet held at Viewland, Ukhrul the convenor Peacemoon Zimik said that for the upcoming open football tournament, interested local clubs from across the Nation are welcome.

However screening or scrutiny will be done on the basis of past performances.

He stated that the entry will be limited to 16 teams.

Organising member Raimison said that the winners prize money would be increased by 10 pc.

Star footballers will be invited to encourage and inspire the local youth in sporting activities.

Apart from sporting activities, their intention is to inculcate the feeling of oneness and to promote peace and harmony in the region.

The organisers also deliberated on their research work and their findings on how and when the Tangkhul community first started to play football.

According to them, it was in 1917 at France, amongst the 66 coy labours corp that some Tangkhul youth started to play football in France.

However, it is under process of research to get details.

The organisers are in the process of observing Tangkhul football centenary in 2017 .
