Chakpikarong, Khubung Khunou earn semis spots in PSNCR Cup

Imphal, December 06 2021: Chakpikarong YC and Khubung Khunou Novokom YC booked semifinal berths in the 1st PS Ningam, Cham shel & Richard Memorial Cup 2021, following their quarterfinal triumphs on Monday at Chakpikarong playground.

The first quarterfinal saw Chakpikarong YC secure a 5-3 win over Bungsong FC.

The Chakpikarong side opened their scoring in the 20th minute through SP Wartha and they extended their lead after 5 minutes with LH Beno on strike before WS Phahrin put them firmly in control with a 30th-minute goal.

Bungsong reduced the deficit in the 40th minute through Anthony and they found their second goal almost immediately with Mono on target.

However, Chakpikarong claimed their fourth goal in the 45th minute courtesy of Phowlngam as Bungsong scored their third goal in the 55th minute through John.

Moments later, Angjoyia who netted Chakpikarong's fifth goal to ensure his side closed out the game with a 5-3 scoreline on their way to the semifinals.

Khubung Khunou Novokom, on the other hand, scored in both halves to beat Ningam MT 2-1 in their quarterfinal encounter.

Vescount gave Khubung Khunou Novokom, the lead only two minutes from kick off but SR Mika cancelled the former's lead with a 27th-minute leveller for his team.

In the second-half tussle, Khubung Khunou rose to the contest as Earlystar's 50th-minute effort eventually made all the difference and helped his side join Chakpikarong in the semifinals.
