2nd District Jr Indigenous Naga Wrestling C'ship kicks off in Senapati

The 2nd District Junior Indigenous Naga Wrestling Championship 2024 commenced on Wednesday at the Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, with Mamoni Doley, deputy commissioner Senapati, inaugurating the event as the chief guest in the presence of senior army officers.
The championship, which runs until December 6, features 66 participants aged 10 to 20 competing across three weight categories: lightweight (under 55 kg), medium weight (55-65 kg), and heavyweight (65 kg and above) .
Organised by the Senapati District Wrestling Association, Manipur (SDWAM), and sponsored by the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavna, the event aims to promote traditional sports and support young athletes in the region.
The winners in each category will receive a cash prize of Rs 35,000, along with medallions and certificates, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 25,000, medallions, and certificates.
The championship will culminate with the final match on December 6 .
