Manipur amass 6 gold, 2 silver at 1st North East Para Sports Meet 2024

Imphal, November 29 2024: Manipur have registered as many as 8 medals including 6 gold and 2 silver at the 1st North East Para Sports Meet 2024 underway since yesterday at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai, Guwahati.

As many as 8 para-athletes including one woman (dwarf) are taking part in the meet that will conclude tomorrow.

The athletes who won gold medals include Ralpi Angrungkham in Badminton, Hirom Manoj in shot-put for dwarves, Khwairakpam Joykumar in shot-put and discus throw for the visually impaired athletes and Md Bahauddin in the 400 m and 200 m races.

Md Bahauddin and Hirom Manoj also won a silver medal each in the discus throw competitions.

Dr Yendrembam Kiran is the leading the State team as chef de mission alongside Birendra Kangjam, president of Paralympic Committee Manipur as the head coach; and four other officials.
