After overcoming Muvanlai Athletics, Sadar Hills (MA) by one goal to nil, KLASA, Keinou have shot up to the top of the table in the ongoing 12th Manipur State League uderway at the Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak today .
In the second match of the day, TRAU and AIM, Khabam played out a goalless draw and continue to remain where they were before the end of the 31st League match .
Equally matched, the first match between KLASA and MA saw a keen tussle with neither team giving any space to the other to control the mid field and make fast runs down the flanks .
The first half of the match saw KLASA having better ball control but with the defenders of MA standing their ground firmly and nullifying all the good moves initiated from the mid field and the flanks all the good moves came to nought .
MA relied more on swift counter attacks, but here too the defence line of KLASA rose to the occasion and thwarted all the moves initiated by the players from MA .
Lemon break was taken with neither team taking a good look at the goal .
After the second half, KLASA put more men on the attack and started finding the gaps in the defence line of MA.
But once again the defence line of MA rose to the occasion and they managed to keep the marauding players of KLASA at bay .
With the match fiercely fought, Jerry Onesemas Pulamte of KLASA received the ball at the mid field and controlling the ball deftly, he let go a well directed shot that swerved over the defenders and went straight to the goal that caught the custodian of MA on the wrong foot to help his team, KLASA go one up in the 50th minute .
Stung by the goal, MA put more men in the attack to restore parity, but the defence line of KLASA did well to keep them at bay and neutralise all the good moves of MA .
Three players, Jonathan Ginthanlian of MA, Clement Lalthuoisang of KLASA and N Shushil Kumar of KLASA were yellow carded by the referee in the 30th, 33rd and 42nd minute of the match respectively .
The second match of the day between TRAU and AIM, Khabam was also a well contested game with neither team able to dominate and dictate the pace of the game .
TRAU played with better positional game but all the good moves were nullified as their strikers failed to convert any of the chances that came their way.
AIM played with a purpose with the knowledge that a victory would inch them forward near the top of the table, but their efforts went abegging with none able to find the net.12th Manipur State League
