Mr World Shantikumar feted with pomp

Dr Ngangbam Shantikumar Meetei, who clinched the title of Mr World 2013 (40 to 49 yrs group) in the contest at Zakynthos, Greece was given a warm reception by hundreds of people, today.
After winning the Mr World title Shantikumar, who now settles in Taiwan, came to his native State along with his wife and children.
Soon after his arrival at Tulihal Airport here at around 1 PM today, hundreds of people including members of Manipur People's Struggle Committee; All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association; Manipur Masters Athletic Association and local clubs welcomed him with pomp and grandeur .
Led by a team of rickshaw drivers, Dr Shantikumar was escorted to his native Moirang Hanuba, where a grand reception was hosted at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Community Hall.

Dr Shantikumar, s/o Ng Shellungba Meetei and Ng Angoubi Leima of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak is working as an English Professor at De Lin Institute of Technology, Taipei and married a Taiwanese Chinese citizen, Chen Nan Tai and they have four kids.
"Of course, when I won, I was happy like others.
But deep inside my heart I was not really happy.
Every time I won I asked about Manipur, my homeland where my parents grew up and spent their last days, where I grew up, suffered and learnt the meaning of suffering in life.
If they can embrace me as their own son and smile even for few seconds when they hear this happy news I will consider myself as one of the luckiest sons in the whole world," Dr Shantikumar had told this paper just after winning the Mr World title.
The Mr World dedicated the title to his fellow Manipuri, Kangleipak (Manipur) and parents, who are no more to witness this happy moment of their son.
