Matches of 2nd Sangai Trophy to resume from May 25

Imphal, April 26 2018: The remaining fixture (quarter final stage) of the 2nd Sangai Trophy Veteran Football that got underway at Mapal Kangjeibung from April 1 will resume from May 25 onwards and will be culminated on May 31, said Ibotombi, the chairman of the organising committee (United Veteran Football Association, Manipur).

Addressing media persons at Mapal Kangjeibung, the organising committee also denounced the act of DC Imphal West as the latter declined their proposal to extend the allotment of the venue for completion of the competition.

The actual allotted date for the competition was from April 1 to 25 but few matches had to be postponed due to disruption by rain and other unavoidable circumstances.

The organising committee charged DC Imphal West for assigning the venue for other competitions without even considering the above inconveniences.

They further alleged that they were not permitted to conduct matches when it was raining which would have certainly reduced the match days.

Politicising the very matter is very unfortunate, the organising committee added.

The organising committee also appealed to all the participating teams to wait till the allotted time as most of the teams expressed their willingness to finish the game at Mapal Kangjeibung only.
