UNACCO, Young Pioneers emerge champions

Imphal, July 25 2022: UNACCO School (Imphal West) emerged champions of the 50th Nehru Junior U-17 Boys State Level Hockey Tournament 2022 while Young Pioneers' School (Imphal East) won the 39th Nehru Sub Junior U -15 Boys State Level Hockey Tourna ment 2022 on Monday.

In the U-17 boys' final, the UNACCO School squad fought back from two goals down to secure a 5-3 w in over Thaimei Guiganpou English School (Bishnupur) at the K human Lampak Hockey Stadium.

Both L Pritam and Sh Borish scored twice in their team 's title triumph.

L Pritam put the Bishnupur school in front after five minutes and teammate L Leishemba made it 2-0 in the space of two minutes.

However.

UNACCO fought back strong!}' and recovered w ith a quick double from team captain Suresh Sharma A (12', 13') .

Then Nelson gave the Imphal West school team the lead in the 26th minute before Sh Borish put the game beyond doubt with a double (35', 43') .

W Derish School starred as Young Pioneers' School overcame a stiff challenge from UNACCO to grind out a 5-4 victor}'and lift the U-15 boys winners' trophy.

W Derish found the opener for the Imphal East squad in the llth minute and he went on to double the advantage in the 30th minute.

UNACCO reduced the deficit in the 31st minute through I.Max Singh and they were on level terms when Kshtrimayum Borish converted in the 44th minute.

However, Young Pioneers regained their lead in the 47th minute courtesy of Swami Dayal only to lie equalised again by their opponents through team captain S Sanson who scored the leveller in the 54th minute.

Then in an action -packed 60th minute, three goals were scored as W Derish completed his hat trick for Young Pioneers and teammate Anish A struck home their fifth, the match decider, while Pebam Jackson netted for UNACCO in a losing cause.
