CC Meet 2014 ZFC win, USA edge out YPHU

Zomi Football Club (ZFC), Churachandpur claimed an easy 4-1 win against FC Khanglai, Sadar Hills on penalty shootouts while United Sports Association (USA), Khurai edged out YPHU, Lalambung by a margin of one goal to nil in the ongoing 58th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
In the first match of the day, FC Khanglai witnessed an early goal in the 6th minute from Khanglai striker Pritam Singh after the referee awarded a penalty kick after the ZFC defender Immanuel Intaote commited a foul.
On the other hand, Zomi strikers launched a series of attack to find the equaliser.
However, the Khanglai defenders stood firm and blocked all the attempts made by ZFC and managed to hold onto their lead lead till the end of the first half.

After the interval, ZFC's efforts paid off after G Hausonpau successfully converted a penalty in the 52nd minute.
With one goal each, both teams made spirited attempts but failed to find a target till the regulation time.
It was a contest between the two custodians after both sides ended on a 1-1 draw at normal time.
In the penalty shootout, Boboi Singh, Joychandra and H Ajoykumar of FC Khanglai failed to beat the ZFC custodian Kenneth Malsawmthang while the Zomi players G Hausonpao, Immanuel Intaote, T Kamkhualian found the targets to help ZFC claim a convincing 4-1 win against FC Khanglai.
Cleaven Hmar of ZFC was booked with a yellow card for unsporting behaviour in the 76th minute.
The second match of the day between USA and YPHU began with both sides on the offensive from kick-off.
After both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half, L Fernando slammed home the winning goal in the 68th minute though a fine cross from Ch Risk Meitei.
USA's Th Kala and L Fernado were yellow carded during the match for unsporting behaviour.
The tournament will resume on December 27 with FC Moirang taking XI Star at 11.30 am while NISA will clash with HISU at 1.30 pm.
