4th International Thang-Ta : India-A emerge overall champions with 51 gold medals

India-A with 282 points became the overall champions of the 4th International Thang-Ta Championship jointly organised by Thang-Ta Federation of India and Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association under the aegis of World Thang-Ta Federation and Youth Affairs and Sports at Multipurpose Indoor Hall, Khuman Lampak since November 22 .
India-A claimed a total of 51 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals to win the title while Nepal (88 points) with 8 gold, 16 silver finished runners up.
Best male fighter title went to Nepal's Krishnakumar Tamang while Dilipkumar Singha of Bangladesh emerged best disciplined player.
Fija Nazir of India-B bagged the best female fighter title while H Liya Chanu of India-A claimed the best disciplined player title for women.
The valedictory function of the championship was attended by titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba; S Premkumar, chairman organising committee 4th International Thang-Ta Championship; Dr Rajeev Ahuja, ex-president Bharatiya Modi Army; Padmashree RK Achouba, chief advisor, Thang-Ta Federation of India; Sintakpurel Dhabalo Khaba, president Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association; Sintakpurel Th Ibohanbi Meitei, president Thang-Ta Loisang Sana Konung; Sintakpurel Y Amumacha, president, Kha-Manipur Thang-Ta Academy and Arun Thangjam as dignitaries who also feted the podium finishers.

Senior Women
Manasi Rajkumari of India-A won a gold medal in the senior women's 52 kg Phunaba Ama event beating Susma Majhi of Nepal while P Chaoba Devi of India-A overcame Pabitra Tamang of Nepal to win the senior women's 56 category gold.
Anjana Chanu (44 kg), H Kavita Chanu (64 kg), N Indubala Devi (68 kg), Huidrom Gunita Chanu (72) and Saima Jan (76 kg) also won one gold medal each in the senior women's phunaba ama events.
In the senior women's phunaba anishuba events, Sh Sanatombi (44 kg), A Maya Chanu (60 kg) and Anjuman Farooq (76 kg) of India-A bagged one gold medal each.
Fiza Nazir of India-B beat Nepal's Susma Majhi to win the gold medal in the phunaba anishuba event for 52 kg category while L Rinabai Chanu defeated Pabitra Tamang for the 56 kg category title.
N Tombi claimed the 64 kg category title beating India-B's Seeba Malik in the final.
Senior Men
India-A's Suhail Ahamad (54 kg), Suraj Ray (70 kg) and Adil Parvaiz (+80 kg) won one gold medal each in phunaba ama events while Kh Netrajit claimed another beating India-B's Rupam Sharma in the 46 kg category final.
Dinesh Ningombam of India-A also sealed a gold medal in the 50 kg category event beating Bishwajit Meetei of Bangladesh in the final.
M Mani Singh of India-A beat Bijay Rasaily of Nepal to win the 58 kg category gold while Ngawang Namgyel of Bhutan claimed the bronze medal.
Ahtisham Fayaz of India-A, Krishna Kumar Tamang of Nepal and Purna Gurung of Bhutan respectively won the gold, the silver and the bronze medal in the 62 kg event today.
A Lucky Singh of India-A beat Bangladesh's Dilip Kumar Singha to win the 66 kg category gold medal while Kinley Tshering of Bhutan claimed the bronze medal.
L Somojit Singh of India-A won another gold beating Ganesh Shrestha of Nepal in the 75 kg category final while W Duhesh of India-A claimed the 80 kg category gold beating Tandi Wangchuk of Bhutan in the final.
In the phunaba anishuba events for senior men, H Sadananda (46 kg) and K Lemba (54 kg) of India-A won one gold medal each uncontested while H Nganthoiba of India-A beating Bangladesh's Bishorjit Meetei to win the gold medal in the 50 kg category.
Bjiay Rasaily of Nepal won the 58 kg category gold beating Ngawang Namgyel while N Bidyananda of India-A, Krishna Kumar Tamang of Nepal and Purna Gurung of Bhutan claimed the gold, the silver and the bronze medal in the 62 kg category event.
M Handsome of India-A beat Dilipkumar Singha of Bangladesh to win the gold medal in the 66 kg phunaba anishuba final while A Bunty of India-A won the 70 kg category gold medal beating Kinley Tshering of Bhutan in the final.
Ganesh Shrestha of Nepal won a gold medal in the 75 kg event beating Danish Nabi of India-A in the final while Masoom Ansar of India-B beat Tandin Wangchuk of Bhutan of to win the 80 kg title.
Honey Kumar of India-A won the gold medal in the above 80 kg phunaba anishuba event beating S Hera Singh of India -B in the final.
Altogether 61 male and 47 female athletes from Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and three Indian teams, India-A, India-B and India-C took part in the championship.
