Imphal, February 23 2016: Model Club-B and CRAU registered easy victories against their opponents on the second day of the 1st State Level Aribam Amutombi Sharma Memorial Veteran Cricket Championship, organised by the Model Club, Chingamakha, today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam.

In the first match, Model Club-B, Chingamakha defeated Imphal West Veteran Cricket Club (IWVCC) by 7 wickets.

The match began with IWVCC batting first and set a 82 run target with all men down in 22.3 overs.

Laiba was the highest scorer of IWVCC as he scored 21 runs off 43 balls.

Santajit (11), Asok (11) and Sanjoy (8) were the other notable scorers for IWVCC.

Model Club's Sanjit grabbed two wickets while Roni and Rakesh also bagged a wicket each. Batting second, Model Club-B easily chased the target in 11.5 overs with six wickets in hand.

Gulson's 22 off 24 balls was the highest scorer for Model Club-B while Sanjit's impressive 17 runs off 11 balls, Priyojit (11) and Gourachandra (9) were the other main contributers for the winning side.

Ashok scalped two wickets while Sanjoy and Deepak took a wicket each for IWVCC.

Sanjit of Model Club-B was named the man of the match.

In the second match of the day, CRAU, Khamnam Bazar claimed a 4-wicket win against DSU, Kwakeithel.

Winning the toss DSU went to bat first and struck 116 runs with all men down in 28.1 overs.

Unbeaten Chingtham slammed 38 runs off 48 balls for DSU while other notable scorers were Amarjit (17), Krishna (14) and Romesh (13).A fine bowling spell from CRAU's Robendro saw him taking five wickets while Deepak took two wickets.

Rameshwor and Gopeshwor also grabbed a wicket each.

Batting second, CRAU reached the target by scoring 118 runs in the 27.5 overs with four wickets remaining.

Gopeshwor (not out) hit 31 runs off 37 balls while the other main scorers Pureiton, Robendro and Tombi contributed 18, 17 and 15 runs respectively.

DSU's Bishworjit claimed two wickets as Jotin, Krishna and Mangi took a wicket each.

The man of the match title went to Robendro of CRAU.

Tomorrow in the first match, NAPSA will play with CRAU while in another match CYCLONE, will clash with CHAMP.
