CC Meet 2014 FC Zalen, MPSC register wins

Imphal, December 22 2014:
FC Zalen and MPSC registered thrilling wins against their respective opponents in the ongoing 58th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
In today's first match, FC Zalen, Sadar Hills edged past SSU, Singjamei by a margin of 6 goals to 5 via sudden death.
The match began with SSU opening its account with a powerful header from Th Santosh in the 25th minute off a corner kick from P Christopher.
Minutes later, the Zalen side bounced back when Patrick slammed home the equaliser in the 32nd minute.

With the scoreline 1-1 in regulation time, penalty shootout was resorted to, to determine the match winner.
In the penalty shootout, Seikhohao Tuboi of FC Zalen failed to beat the SSU goalkeeper S Dinakumar while Patrick, Boilal, Haotinkhup and Helun found the targets.
On the other hand, SSU's Th Roshan, L Gogocha, Md Riyas Khan and Th Santosh successfully converted their kicks but a brillant save by Zalen custodian Demkhupreng of f a Md Shahidur Rehman's strike equalised the scoreline at 4-4 .
In the sudden death, Minlen of FC Zalen successfully converted his shot while O Surjit of SSU missed the target as the ball went far off the goalmouth.
SSU's Y Sachidanand and O Surjit were yellow carded for unsporting behaviour during the match.
In the second match of the day, a late goal from Th Kiran helped MPSC to overcome KLASA, Keinou by a margin of 2 goals to one.
After both teams failed to break the deadlock during the first half, a freak own goal from police defender K Priyokumar in the 54th minute gave the opening goal to KLASA.
On the other hand, MPSC went on the offensive and launched a series of attack till M Somochandra slammed home the equaliser off a corner kick from K Benjamin in the 63rd minute.
Tied with one goal each, both teams continued with their attacking modes to break the deadlock.
In the meantime, MPSC witnessed its winning goal in the 82nd minute from Th Kiran.
Tomorrow, AIM will clash with NACO at 11.30 am while SCL will play TRAU at 1.30 pm.
