Chandel, July 21 2014: The first Chandel DC Cup 2014, a district level men's football tournament would be held from July 30 at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School play ground, Chandel district.

The convener of the organizing Committee BD Betha informed that the tournament this year would be hosted by the Riverlane Youth Club.

Campaign and mobilization has gained full momentum so as to include several teams from all blocks of the district.

Stating that the inability on the part of whosoever club or association might be, to host such event to what he called 'important event' as a 'great lost' for the sports loving youth of the district, Betha maintained that starting of the present 1st Chandel DC Cup in such a time when the people of Chandel had not witnessed such tournament in the district during the past many years as 'an inspiration and blessing for the youths' and went on to appealed all clubs, Association to support and make use of the event.

Highlighting objectives of the tournament, the convener said providing platform to soccer lovers and fans particularly the youths of the districts to excel in the field of this game and as an encouragement and promotion of sports.

The convener in his statement thanked the present DC of Chandel IAS Th Chittaranjan Singh not only for the inspiration and guidance he had given to the organizer but also for raising and mobilizing funds for meeting the cost of the prizes of the tournament.

According to him, the Chandel DC Cup would become an important sports event of the district beginning from this year.

Clubs from all blocks of the district would be targeted.

Regarding the host of the event, the convener said, "it is open to all club provided they should organized the tournament in the district head quarters' .

Dwelling on the prizes of the this year's edition, BD Betha further stated that besides a cash prize of Rs 40000 along with certificates for the Championship winner and Rs 20000 with certificates for the runners up, several individual prizes and semi finalist would be awarded.

The entry forms can be submitted within July 27 and fixture would be drawn on July 28 at Chandel the convener added.
