SEYO Tennis Tournament : Rivaskar clinches men's singles title

Rivaskar claimed the men's singles title of the 1st State Level SEYO Tennis Tournament organised by South East.
Youth Organisation, Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai at its court under the aegis of Manipur Tennis Association.
Rivaskar had a easy outing today in the final match against Kh Indrakumar as he wrapped up the game 6-0, 6-1 to lift the singles title.
Meanwhile, the above 40 years men's double title was claimed by Th Tuleshor and Ibohal who showed their superiority with a 6-2, 3-6 (10-1) triumph against Kangjamba and Rakesh pair in the final.
N Dilip and Ch Leishemsana on the other hand fetched the above 55 years doubles title of the tournament.
The duo combined well to register an easy 6-1, 6-2 win against N Tomba and S Ranjan in the final to claim the title today.
The valedictory function of the tournament was attended by IPR Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh; Ksh Rajen Singh, president SEYO; Ksh Lemba Singh, president SEYO Tennis Court and H, Balkrishna Singh, Director, IPR as dignitaries who also feted the winners and other participants.
Information and Public Relations Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, said that the State has excelled in almost every sports discipline, however, and more focus is needed to achieve more.
The minister who is also the local MLA, maintained that the construction of a Mini Hockey stadium at the ground is under process and added that there is also a plan to develop a water body for water sports in the area.
The youths of the State only need encouragement and motivation to become a successful tennis player, he said besides stressing on the need to provide quality equipment and facilities.
He also maintained that the State could dominate in sports only when talented sportspersons play for the State.
Information and Public Relations Director H Balkrishna Singh who attended the function as the guest of honour, described himself as an ardent fan of tennis and called for a concerted effort from all to promote the sports in the State.
Balkrishna also attracted the interest of the government to improve and promote tennis in the State by improving the infrastructure and facilities in the State.
Men's Singles winners Rivaskar walked away with the prize money of Rs 6,000 and the title trophy while runners up Indrakumar was awarded with Rs 3,000.Semifinallists, Tuleshor and Azad Khan were also encouraged with Rs 1,000 each.
Above 40 years and above 50 years doubles winners were also feted with Rs 5,000 each while runners up contended with Rs 3,000 each.
Semifinallists of both the categories were also honoured with Rs 1,000 each during the function.
