Imphal, January 20 2013 : UPA, Kyamgei edged past LMFA, Heirok 2-1 while YOSC, Khurai overcame KLASA, Keinou 5-4 via the tie-breaker on the opening day matches of the Moreh Cup State Level invitation football tournament at Eastern Shine English School ground, Moreh today.

According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, the tournament is being organised by the 9 Assam Rifles 26 Sector to commemorate the 66th Republic Day.

The tournament, which will continue till January 25 is being participated by 10 teams, including nine registered clubs under AMFA from the nine districts of Manipur and one team from Moreh registered under District Football Association (DFA) .

The tournament themed 'Freedom and Equality for All', was inaugurated by Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles Brig Rajeev Mankotia as the chief guest while AMFA vice president P Raghumani was the guest of honour.

The tournament is being played on a knock-out basis with an exhibition match being organized with a football team of Tamu (Myanmar) to strengthen the bond of mutual trust and harmony between India and Myanmar.

A free medical-cum-dental camp was also organized as part of the grand event to provide medical assistance to the local populace of Moreh.
