MPSC lose; USA enter MSL semis

The North Eastern Re-Organising and Cultural Association (NEROCA), Sangakpham and United Sports Association (USA), Khurai emerged victorious against Manipur Police Sports Team (MPSC) and Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam today in the ongoing 9th Manipur State League organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the sponsorship of MLA Khumukcham Joykishan Singh at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
In today's first quaterfinal, NEROCA thumped MPSC by a margin of 2 goals to nil.

The police players were stretched to the limit and they failed at crucial moments letting in two goals.
Sensing the kill, NEROCA adopted an offensive style from the first minute of the match.
NEROCA opened its account when defender Y Chingkhei Meitei released a powerful curling freekick which put the ball into the far corner of the net in the 22nd minute.
Chingkhei Meitei was booked with a yellow card for unsporting behaviour in the 58th minute.
The police team also got a few chance during the first half to come back into the match but failed to find the goal.
Leading the match, NEROCA continued its attacking mode till Th Borish slotted home another goal to register a convincing win against the hapless MPSC.
MPSC's O Somendro were cautioned with a yellow card during the match.
In the second quaterfinal of the day, USA edged past AIM by a margin of 2 goals to one.
USA's K Falguni struck home the opening goal in the additional time of the first half.
After the first half, AIM players created many opportunities to find the equaliser.
However, the USA denfenders who stood firm throughout the match neutralised all their attempts.
On the other hand, USA's L Milan slammed home in the 58th minute to help his team take a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The AIM players did not lose their heart and continued to fight back till W Daniel Meitei brought down the margin in the 68th minute through a powerful throw in from M Thoi.
AIM's efforts to come back into the match however proved futile.
