SEYO felicitates Hockey Player Suman

Imphal, July 16 2014: The South East Youth Organisation (SEYO), Singjamei Kshetri Leikai in Imphal East felicitated its junior hockey player Thoudam Suman Devi, who participated in the World Youth Hockey Tournament (under-18) held in Netherlands on August 11 and 12 last in which India turned out to be winner.

The reception programme held at the office of SEYO here at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai was graced by Ksh.

Bhubon Singh, AK Sanaton Singh and K.Devananda Sharma as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In the felicitation programme held in presence Hockey Olympian and Manipur Hockey President Ksh.

Thoiba Singh, Thoudam Suman was honoured with presentation of gifts in recognition of her performance in various national and international hockey tournaments including the recently concluded World Youth Hockey Tournament (under-18) in Netherlands.

Speaking at the function, AK Sanaton who is also the president of SEYO recalled the previous achievements of the organization in the field of hockey and the support extended by the local people in grooming sportspersons of repute.

SEYO in the past had already produced a number of national and international Hockey player including Olympian Ksh.

Thoiba Singh, he said.

.KDevananda Sharma, who is also the treasurer of Manipur Hockey, in his speech lauded the performance of the young girl hockey player who hailed from the ground of SEYO.

Thoudam Suman (16), eldest daughter of Thoudam Anand of Singjamei Monkhanglambi in Imphal east had earlier participated in various national hockey events representing the state.

Among the tournaments she had taken part, mention may be made of Sub Junior National in Pune 2014 (winner), Sub Junior National Bhopal 2013 (runners up), Junior National 2014 in Mysore (runner), Junior National 2013 in Ranchi (runner) and Sub Junior Zonal in Mumbai.

A player in right-half position , Suman earlier took part in Inter school tournaments in Delhi in and in Amritsar in 2011, Sub Junior National in Patna in 2011 and Jawaharlal Nehru Tournaments in 2013 (runner) and in 2012 (runner).

She also joined the prize money hockey tournament in 2013 in Ludhiana.

Suman, presently a student of Kiddys' Corner School in Gwalior, is preparing for taking part in the Upcoming Hockey Tournament to be held in Australia in November 2014 .
