6th MNCA Plate Tournament : CDC thrash SSU by 5 wickets, sweep league campaign

CDC, Sagolband Salam Leikai thrashed SSU Sagolband by 5 wickets at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today to top Group A with four of four victories and enter 6th MNCA Plate Tournament semi-finals in style.
SSU won the toss but were bowled out by CDC for a lowly total of 136 runs after electing to bat first.
CDC then chased down the target in 34.1 overs with five wickets left to spare.
SSU started their innings on a sticky note losing three top order batters cheaply with 25 runs on the scoreboard in 10.1 overs.
Sujeet (36 off 63) and Sougrakpam Doughlas (34 off 37 balls) provided SSU a brief respite midway but their efforts were not enough as CDC bowlers put in a concerted effort to close out the innings in 39.4 overs.
CDC's Kshetrimayum Robert (2/19), Md Ataur Rahaman (2/24) and Mutum Jodiba (2/26) picked two wickets each as Khursid, Asif and Geerish Kangabam claimed a wicket each.
CDC lost Thounaojam Rakesh (2) early but Salam Pinky (24) and Priyojit Narengbam (46 off 63 balls; 4 fours and 1 six) helped the team return on track.
Kshetrimayum Robert (20) and Md Ataur Rahaman (22 not out) then overcame pressure to steer CDC towards the target before Ataur and Viking Salam (8 not out) finished off the chase.
Chungkham Gugu (2/13) and Saikhomba Thongam (2/ 29) took two wickets each in this innings as Khomdram Rahuldev managed a wicket.
Ksh Robert was named man of the match for with knock of 20 runs and a haul of 2 wickets.
Elsewhere, YAC-Yaiskul beat YWC-Patsoi by 6 wickets in an inconsequential Group B league match at Langthabal Public Ground.
YAC skittled out YWC-P for a paltry 110 total in 31.2 overs as the latter won the toss and elected to bat first, and took 23 overs to eclipse the total with 6 wickets left in hand.
Konsam Kishan (20) and Ashiskumar Wakongbam (20) were the only notable YWC batters today as Joychandra Singh Ngangbam of YAC enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/15 in 6.2 overs).
Salam Raju (2/26) and Amit Maisnam (2/22) of YAC also shared two wickets each to contribute to YWC's batting collapse.
In the chase, YAC were reduced to 17 for 2 but Monjit Loushambam (20) and Reebanta (23 not out) resurrected the innings.
With additional 44 extras runs conceded by YWC bowlers, Reebanta and Joychandra Ngangom (13 not) guided YAC to winning 111 in 23 overs.
Joychandra who claimed three wickets and added an unbeaten 13 was adjudged man of the match.
CDC will play Group B runners up KIYC in the first semi-final match on August 18 at Langthabal Public Ground.
Group B winners, IBSA will take on Group A runners up UCC in the other semi-final match the next day at the same venue.
