Manipur State Archery Championship concluded

Imphal, March 15 2018: The closing ceremony of three days long State Level Archery Championship was held today at Keithalmanbi.

The event was organised by 6 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter IGAR(South) from 13 to 15 March 2018 .

A total of 96 archers from 14 different archery clubs registered under Manipur Archery Association participated in the Championship and showcased their skills.

In keenly contested finals, Th Heller of BCAC, N Arjun of SICA and AK Amarjit of NSA emerged as winners in Indian, Compound and Recurve categories respectively.

In the womens' category P Sonia of YAC, SH Manorama of SAIRC and Th Sanai of SAIRC emerged as winners in Indian, Compound and Recurve categories respectively.

Shri Langpaklangpam Jayanta Kumar Singh, Minister of Health, Family welfare, Law and Legislative, Art and Culture was the Chief Guest for the event.

The Minister felicitated the Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists in each category and encouraged all participants to excel in the sport and aim at bringing laurels for the country in their future endeavors.

He also appreciated the dedication and hard work of the archers and highlighted the rich tradition of sports in Manipur and assured maximum possible help and support for the budding sports talent in the State and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the efforts taken by Assam Rifles.

Brig Amit Kabthiyal, SM, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles and Shri Sonachand Sharma, Joint Secretary, Manipur Archery Association were also present on the occasion.
