Imphal, January 15 2022: P Naoba scored 4 goals as ESU knocked SFC out 5-1 to enter quarter finals of the 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial CRPF Football tournament being organised by 143 Bn CRPF with the assistance of AMFA and IWDFA at SAI turf ground, Takyel.

ESU striker, P Naoba was in prolific form today and scored twice in the first half to ensure his team enjoyed a 2-0 lead and went on to pump in two more goals in the second half to make it 5-1 at the end.

ESU dominated the game from the word go but SFC managed to soak up pressure for a while until P Naoba opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

P Naoba then grabbed another a minute away from the halftime and completed his treble in the 71st minute after P James pulled a goal back for SFC in the 63rd minute.

To pile further misery on the hapless SFC, ESU continued to press hard and Lunminhao scored the team's fourth in the 87th minute before P Naoba rose again to drive home the final nail in the 88th minute.

Meanwhile in the afternoon's fixture, UKB, Churachandpur booked their quarter final berth beating XI Star SU, Akampat 3-1 in a lopsided encounter.

UKB enjoyed a lion's share of possession and scoring chances in this game and were ahead 5 minutes into the game with Paolenlal finding the back of the XI-Star net.

XI-Star SU defenders were outplayed yet again and Seiminthang struck in the 22nd minute to solidify UKB's lead.

UKB, after enjoying a comfortable 2-0 first half lead, sat back and concentrated more in defending their lead until Giftson found a gap and pulled back a goal for XI Star SU in the 86th minute.

It however did not dampen the spirit of the Churachandpur team and it was at the stroke of the 90 minute mark that Lanminlun scored and helped UKB walk home 3-1 .

WAFA, Wangoi will play NACO, Nambul Mapal in the next pre-quarter final match tomorrow from 2.15 pm at the same venue.
