3rd Unapal Winter Cup begins

Kakching, January 13 2015:
The 3rd Winter Cup organised by Unapal Sporting Association began today at Unapal Village playground in Chandel district today.
The inaugural function was graced by Md Julfikar, 11 Pallel Zilla Parishad as chief guest and Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) president S Munthuireng Aimol and All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) president Muan Tombing attended as president and guest of honour respectively.

After the chief guest hoisted the flag and inspected the players, the opening match was played between the defending champion Cheengkhu Football Club (CFC) and Kakching United Football Club (KUFC) .
In the first half of the opening match, the defending champion CFC opened its account through Angpol but KUFC bounced back after Ashok Singh found the equaliser after he headed home.
KUFC's Ashok Singh slammed two more goals in the second half to help his side register a 3-1 win against CFC.
Altogether, 24 different clubs from Chandel and Thoubal districts are participating in the tournament.
A cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy will be awarded to the team champion.
