Sports can be opted as a challenging career, says Edn Minister

Education Minister S Rajen Singh has said that sports can be opted as a challenging career.
The Minister was speaking as the chief guest today at a reception ceremony of State Wushu players who shone at the 20th Jr National Wushu (Boys/Girls) Championship held at Lovely Professional University, Punjab from October 20 to 25 .
The ceremony was organised by International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) at Multipurpose Indoor Hall, Khuman Lampak.
Addressing the gathering, S Rajen said that State athletes have been making Manipur more popular each passing day and making Manipur known to the world with their impressive performances at the National and the international arena.
All because of State athletes' talents and undying spirit, Manipur is considered as "Sports Powerhouse" of India, he said while adding that all should be proud of sport stars of the State.
The Minister further stated that the Government has initiated many welfare schemes for players including induction of meritorious players in various Government departments.
Moreover, in recognition of exemplary feats of legendary boxer MC Mary Kom, she has been nominated as a Rajya Sabha, he added.
Taking note of the prevalence of factions and dispute between members of sports association, the Minister termed that emergence of such issues as unfortunate and called for amicable settlements of the issues in the interest of the players.
The Minister further maintained that players should not get overwhelmed just after winning a medal but put in more and more efforts with a strong determination.
The Nation always reserves rooms for the successful players of the state, he added.
IPSA president, T Birjit, prominent sports persons of the State, YAS officials, SAI officials, leaders of CSOs and others also attended the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Manipur bagged 25 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze medals in the recently concluded 20th Jr National Wushu (Boys/Girls) Championship.
