Imphal, December 11 2015 :
Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei cruised into the quarter finals of the ongoing 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung after beating North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband by a margin of two goals to nil today.
Right from the start of today's pre-quarter final match, SSU dominated the game with better coordination.
NISA, on the other hand, failed to organise themselves until 15 minutes into the second half of the match.
SSU took advantage of the lack of coordination of the Thangmeiband players and opened their account in the 25th minute when Th Roshan Meitei's header off a left flank cross from Md Riyaz Khan found the target.

SSU doubled the lead in the 29th minute when L Gogocha converted a penalty.
The Singjamei side were awarded the penalty after NISA Paominlen Khongsai's hand came in contact with the ball while putting up a defence to the counter attack of SSU's T Raju Singh.
Significantly, L Gogocha has six goals in his kitty so far and is taking on his campaign for the top scorer of the tournament.
SSU lost an opportunity towards the end of the first half when P Christopher Kamei's strike missed the target and hit the post.
After the breather, NISA bounced back with better coordination and made efforts to equalise the score line.
A brilliant attempt made by NISA striker Kh Naoton in the 65th minute was denied by SSU goalkeeper S Dinakumar.
L Sanatomba of NISA collected the deflected ball and although he got the chance, he missed the target.
NISA efforts to find the equalisers went abegging.
SU will meet FC Zalen at 1.30 pm tomorrow.
