State Volleyball Tournaments : Stage set for Sub-Junior Boys' quarterfinals, 48th Senior Women's State tournament commences

Imphal, October 11 2024: The 48th edition of the Senior Women's State Volleyball Tournament kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex under the aegis of the All Manipur Volleyball Association.

The tournament features 9 teams clubbed into two groups.

In the opening match, SCYC, Senjam Chirang edged NSU, Imphal 25-14, 12-25, 15-10 to open their Group A winning account before SDVA, Senapati came back from a set down to beat NYVA, Naorem 14-25, 25-11, 15-10 in another Group A match.

In the Group B opener, TRYVC, Ukhrul registered a 25-14, 27-25 win over MPSC.

In the second match of the same group, KDVA, Kamjong edged NDVA, Noney 25-21, 18-25, 15-17 before TRYVC raced to a 25-14, 25-23 win over CDVA to stretch their group stage winning run to two games.

The quarterfinal line up of the 23rd Sub-Junior Boys State Volleyball Tournament was completed today with the end of the league stage.

The day saw YPC, Ishok open their Group C winning account by defeating TRYVC in straight sets (25-19, 25-17) before defeating TYC, Tengdongyan 25-20, 19-21, 15-11 later in the day and finishing group winners.

In the Group D matches, UKVC, Kamjong defeated CDVA, Chandel 23-25, 25-12, 15-9 for second straight victory and to finish group winners as YGC, Wakhong beat CDVA 25-23, 25-16 later in the day for their first win in two matches and finished group runners.

NYVA, Naorem also secured a quarterfinal berth as they beat SUWC, Irengbam to finish Group A runners up.

In the lone Group B match, DVA, Thoubal defeated SCYC 25-18, 25-13 to finish group winners as SCYC finished runners up.

AMIMYDO will face SCYC in the first quarterfinal match before DVA play NYVA, YPC face YGC and UKVC play TRYVC in the following quarterfinal matches.

The day also saw SCYC, MPSC, AMIMYDO and NSU securing their second straight victories in the 48th Senior Men's State Volleyball Tournament.

AMIMYDO kicked off their Group C campaign with a 25-21, 25-20 win over KDVA, Kamjoing and went on to win 25-16, 21-25, 15-13 against SEDO, Nongmaikhong for the second victory later in the day.

In another Group C match, TRYVC beat EAGLE 25-18, 25-14 in an all-Ukhrul teams' clash for their first win in two games.

In the Group D matches, KYLSC eased past MRC, Mairenkhong 25-4, 25-9 and NYVA, Naorem beat YPC 25-13, 25-21 to bounce back from their opening game losses.

In another Group D match, NSU who beat KYLSC by 2-1 sets yesterday defeated YPC 25-16, 25-23 for their second win.

Later, SCYC, Senjam Chirang who beat HVA by 2-1 sets yesterday managed to beat YMDO, Heirangoithong 25-14, 25-22 to extend their winning run.

HVA, meanwhile, beat SDC, Samurou 25-13, 25-17 in another Group A match.

In the lone Group D match of the day, MPSC beat IGO, Oinam 25-17, 25-18 for their second straight win.
