State Level Gymnastics Championships underway, Laxman bags senior men's parallel bar gold

Imphal, August 10 2024:
State Level Gymnastics Championships 2024 got underway at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium today under the supervision of the All Manipur Gymnastics Association (AMGA) .
95 athletes of various age groups from 9 units are participating the two day State level championships which were opened today with international gymnast Pangambam Ariha administering oath of sportsmanship in the presence of H Rajen, patron member of AMGA; L Tiken, president of AMGA and N Binadhon, vice president as presidium members.

Speaking as the chief guest, Rajen expressed happiness over the resurgence of gymnastics in the recent years after the State witnessed its growth from 1970s to 1980s.He also credited dedicated coaches, guardians of the athletes and athletes for the growth of gymnastic movement in the recent years and encouraged them to take the cause further to help Manipur occupy an important place in the gymnastics map of the country.
The opening day of the championship saw Kh Laxman of DGAB winning parallel bar gold medal for senior men with 11.85 points as compatriot Th Abinash settled for the silver medal with 11.50 points and THYIO's H Debrag Khuman finished third with 7.40 points.
Meanwhile, Peter Naorem of DGAB scored 12.45 points to win junior boys' parallel bar gold medal while his compatriots T Yoihenba (12.28 pts) and Th Lamnganba (11.95 pts) finished second and third.
Vaulting Table
Senior men's vaulting table gold medal went to DGAB's Th Abinash who topped with 11.20 points.
Ph Mahesh (11.05) of the same unit and H Debrag of THYIO finished second and third in the same event to settle for the silver and the bronze medals.
DGAB also swept the top three places in the junior boys' vaulting table event as N Deepak (12.35 pts), T Yohenba (12.225 pts) and Peter Naorem (11.275 pts) finished first, second and third.
Th Baskar of DGAB (13.43 pts) and Ph Mahesh of DGAB (12.35 pts) were able to clinch U-12 boys and U-14 boys vaulting table gold medals.
O Bandana of DGAB (12.725 pts) and Model Club's Y Nancy also won Vaulting Table gold medals for Junior and U-12 girls.
Roman Ring
Thokchom Avinash of DGAB was able to win the senior men's Roman Ring gold medal as he secured 10.80 points.
THYIO's H Debrag (10.65 pts) and Kh Laxman of DGAB (9.80 pts) finished second and third in the competition.
Manikhomba Phougeihsangbam of DGAB (11.65 pts) and Md Mukhtadir Alibuksh of THYIO (14.80 pts) in the meantime sealed the U-14 boys and U-12 boys' Roman Ring gold medals.
Pommel Horse
DGAB's Th Baskar (12.10 pts) and Ph Mahesh (14.20 pts) also sealed the Pommel Horse gold medals for U-12 boys and U-14 boys.
Floor Exercise
Diamond Kamei of Citizens Club secured 15.40 points to win the Vaulting Horse gold medal for U-10 boys after winning the Floor Exercise gold medal.
Md Musharraf Alibuksh of UYAC (13.85 pts) won the Floor Exercise gold medals for U-8 boys.
Mathiuhuailiu Babiana Pame of UYC clinched the senior girls Uneven Bars gold medal with a 9.75 points finish as P Roshni of UYC (10.20 pts) and Lanchenbi Moirangthem of HU (8.40 pts) bagged gold medals for junior girls and U-12 girls.
Lamnganbi Laishram of UYAC (18.95 pts) in the meantime won the floor exercise gold medal for U-8 girls.
Trampoline
Gurumayum Karunish of HU secured the Trampoline gold for boys securing 7.50 points as Abujam Korounganbi of NPSC secured 7.90 points to win the girls' gold medal.
Aerobic Gymnastics
Huirem Jesika of UYAC was able to seal the Aerobic Gymnastics' gold medal securing the highest 19.30 points as Lairenmayum Yaisana of Citizens' Club topped the National Development event with a 17.90 points finish.
