CWG medalists given rousing welcome by well-wishers

Manipur players who won medals in various events of the just concluded XX Commonwealth Games 2014, held at Glasgow, Scotland namely, Khumukcham Sanjita, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, Laishram Devendro and Laishram Sarita were feted by well-wishers, players and representatives of Manipur Olympic Association and Manipur Weightlifting Association on their arrival at Imphal International Airport at around 11.30 am today.
It may be recalled that Sanjita and Mirabai won 1 gold and 1 bronze medal in women's weightlifting event respectively while Devendro and Sarita bagged 1 silver medal each in men's and women's boxing.
Speaking at the felicitation, Sanjita said that it will be quite satisfying if the government of Manipur provides a suitable job for her.
"I will also try to give the best of what I can to win in other upcoming international championships for the country", she said.
Boxer Sarita said that it was very disheartening for her not to be unable to participate in the London Olympics.
But she assured that she will fulfill the desire of the people by claiming a gold medal in the forthcoming Asian Games and 1 medal in the Olympics Games.
Silver medalist Mirabai Chanu also expressed her desire to fulfill the people's wish of winning gold medal in other upcoming championships even though she failed to achieve gold medal in the XX Commonwealth Games 2014. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party, Heingang Mandal hosted a felicitation function in honour of Kh Kothajit, who won silver medal in the Hockey event of XX Commonwealth Games 2014, at the residence of Kothajit at Lairikyengbam Leikai Mayai Lambi here today.
