Imphal, December 09 2008: Sagolband United (SU) defeated YDO, Heinou Khongnembi 3-1 in a Group F match of the 52nd CC Meet football tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The win ensured SU a place in the quarter finals of the prestigious tournament as the Sagolband side had also defeated NLYC, New Lamka 2-0 earlier in the competition.

After a scoreless first half, Joseph T Khongsai blasted home the SU opener within a minute into the second half with the advantage further extended by K Anand Kabui 10 minutes later.

Joseph's second of the match at the hour mark put the game beyond the reach of the opponents, whose consolation goal was netted by W Nillakanta converting a 78th minute penalty award.

The match between PYA, Kairang and RACC, Renkai scheduled today has been deferred to 12.05 pm tomorrow on account of Id-ul-Zuha today.

In another match tomorrow DM Rao, Sekmai will play against TRAU, Tiddim Road.
