Imphal, November 08 2012: With three wins in same number of matches in the final league round, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Chandigarh claimed the women's title of the East zone Inter university Handball Championship.

On the concluding day of the competition today, the Chandigarh eves outplayed host Manipur University 13-06 in the final league match to claim the title and qualify for the All india championship.

In the earlier matches, the eventual champions defeated UP's Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University and Calcutta University, WB 15-03 and 19-2 respectively while MU eves overcame Calcutta University 19-2 and Purvanchal University 17-3 .
