14th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament Cyclone edge past KSC by 11 runs

Cyclone, Thangmeiband edged past KSC, Lambulane by 11 runs in the ongoing 14th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament underway at Oriental College and Model Higher Secondary School ground today.
Winning the toss, Cyclone opted to bat first and this paid dividends and their batsmen managed to total 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs.
N Shashi led the way in the batting department for Cyclone as he made a quick 65 runs off only 62 balls, despatching all the loose balls to the boundary with ease.
Stanlee followed with a run a ball score of 20 runs off 20 balls and Roben too repeated the feat with 13 runs off only 13 balls.
Robindro was another notable contributor with 13 runs off 21 balls.
For KSC, Gogon led the way in grabbing four wickets from 4 overs and he was ably assisted by Gouminlun who took 2 wickets from 6 overs.
Ninghor and Martin took one wicket each from 2 and 6 overs respectively.
The innings of Cyclone folded up for 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs.
Faced with the task of scoring 158 runs for a win, KSC started their innings tentatively but the tight bowling of Cyclone ensured that wickets kept falling at regular interval.
Arun led the bowling line up with four wickets in 6 overs and he was assisted by Robindro who took two wickets in 6 overs.
Surjit followed suit with two wickets in 6 overs while Bikom managed to grab one wicket in 5 overs.
For KSC, Gouminlun put up a good fight with 26 runs off 26 balls and he was assisted by Gogon who also made a quick 20 runs off 21 balls.
Lulun chipped in with 13 runs off 17 balls.
However this proved too little and the innings of KSC folded up for 146 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs handing the match to Cyclone by 11 runs.
For his fine spell of 4 wickets in 6 overs, Arun of Cyclone bagged the man of the match award.
