5 State boxers shine at 4th Intl Youth and Junior Men's Boxing Tournament

Five out of the 6 boxers of State origin who were among the 13 member Indian team, bagged a total of 5 medals including 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 4th International Youth and Junior Men's Boxing Tournament 2019 which was held from April 1 to 5 at Botevgrad, Bolivia.
Bishwamitra Chongtham, the son of Shyamchandra and Narmada of Mayang Imphal Bazar, claimed a gold medal after a comfortable 5-0 win against Wales' Costa Romeo in the 48 kg category final.
Bishwamitra started his boxing stint at Sarita Regional Boxing Academy and got his training at Regular Coaching Camp, Youth Affairs and Sports afterward before joining Army Boys Institute Pune.
Bishwamitra is currently reading in 9th standard at the said institute.
S Yaifaba Meitei, born to S Joy and S Suni Leima of Nongada Awang Leikai was able to clinch the other gold after a one sided win (5-0) against Kazakhstan rival in the 54 kg final event.
Moirangtham Sanathoi Meitei on the other hand settled for silver after he went down 2-3 in the 63 kg event final.
Sanathoi is the son of M Premjit and M Reena Leima of Uripok Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
L Rabichandra (57 kg) and S Victor (50 kg) from Manipur were able to grab bronze medals after going down their respective rivals (2-3) in the semi-final bouts.
L Rabichandra is the son of L Purnachandra and L Taruni of Khabam Bamdiar while S Victor was born to S Brojen and S Thaba of Mayang Imphal.
K Sanjit, the son of K Nungshitomba and K Shandhyarani missed the podium finish by a whisker as he went down in the 46 kg quarter final round.
