Manipur add gold, silver medals to tally at Junior fencing nationals

Imphal, December 05 2024: Manipur added two medals to their tally by win ning a gold and a silver in women s team events at the 32nd Junior National Fencing Championship 2024 on Thursday at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna.

The state quartet of W Sonia, T Mangaleibi, Alice Rungsung and T Thoithoi dished out a stellar performance, defeating Tamil Nadu 45-39 in the final to claim the gold medal.

In contrast, the women's epee team faced a tough loss in the final, going down 30-45 to Haryana and settling for the silver medal.

The epee team consisted of Dibiya N, Oshini K, S Nelcyros, and G Keniya.

Earlier on Wednesday, Manipur claimed a gold and a bronze.

Taishram Moramba decisively defeat Tamil Nadu's AV Arlin in the final of the men's junior sabre individual event with a score of 15-9 to earn the top podium honour.

In the women's foil individual event, Mangaleibi Takhellambam earned a bronze medal after falling to Haryana's Prachi in the semifinal.
