SSU win; ZFC blank TRAU in State League

Imphal, October 04 2014 : Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei got the better of Keinou Library and Sports Association (KLASA), Keinou by a margin of 3 goals to two while Zomi Football Club (ZFC), Churachandpuur blanked Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), Kwakeithel by a margin of 2 goals to nil in the ongoing 9th Manipur State League organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the sponsorship of MLA Khumukcham Joykishan Singh today at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

In the first match of the day, SSU started brightly and broke the deadlock as early as in the 5th minute of the match through Th Roshan.

SSU's Christopher Kamei slammed home in the 60th minute off a fine cross from Th Roshan to make the scoreline 2-0 .

Minutes later, Md Shahidur Rahman netted to help his team take a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Down by three goals without scoring a single goal, KLASA got their acts together and started launching a series of attack.

Their efforts paid off in the 77th minute when S Dharamjit slammed home the first goal of his side.

KLASA kept up the pressure with some incisive moves from either side of the flanks and this paid dividends when L Jiten found the target and the team's second goal when he latched onto a defence splitting pass and rammed it home in the dying minutes of the match but by then it was too late.

KLASA's T Sushil, N Dhananjay and SSU's Md Shahidur Rahman were yellow carded during the match.

The second match of the day started with ZFC dominating the TRAU players in almost all departments of the game.

The Churachandpur side which dished out an outstanding performance romped home by trouncing the fancied TRAU by a margin of two goals to nil.

ZFC's L Lalrinluangang struck the opening goal of his side in the 56th minute.

Then L Hmar slammed in the second goal to script a 2-0 win for ZFC.
