AITA U-16 Tennis Championship begins Rishav, Srujan enter semifinals

Imphal, July 04 2016: The AITA U-16 Tennis Championship, organised by the Manipur Tennis Association under the aegis of All India Tennis Association (AITA) began today at Officers' Club Tennis Court, Lamphel.

On the opening day, Rishav Brahma of Assam and Srujan G Hashit of Arunachal Pradesh cruised into the semifinals.

In today's quarterfinal matches, Rishav Brahma downed Kothari Nihal of Maharashtra 10-6 while Srujan G Hashit claimed an easy 10-4 win against K Justin Panmei.

Earlier in the pre-quarterfinal matches, Rishav Brahma handed a crushing 9-0 defeat to M Nishant of Manipur while Srujan G Hashit downed Th Rajiv of Manipur 9-2 .

Tomorrow, Lukram Luching of Manipur will play with Kritanta Sharma of Assam in the third quarterfinal match.

Earlier, Lukram Luching defeated Sougrakpam Gaurav of Manipur 9-1 in the pre-quarterfinal while Kritanta Sharma of Assam clinched a convincing 9-0 victory against Leishangthem Atap of Manipur.

Altogether 16 girls and 18 boys are participating in the championship.
