Imphal, June 04 2014: IVFA Canchipur downed VSAI, Thangmeiband via the tie breaker in the final to lift the championship title of the 1st O Charly Memorial Veteran 5-A-Side Day and Night Football tournament today.

With both teams evenly matched in every department of the game, the match in a goalless draw, resulting in a penalty shoot out to decide the winner.

Tight defence and tight man to man marking highlighted the nature of the match, though both teams did initiate some dangerous moves down the flanks and tried to dominate the midfield with some well co-ordinated moves.

In the tie break, the players from VSAI wilted under the immense pressure and only M Lukhoi was able to convert his kick while on the side of IVFA Canchipur, A Babu, L Chandra and Ch Deven managed to convert their kicks and help their team emerge winners by a margin of three goals to one.

The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while the runners had to settle for Rs 20,000 .

The best player of the final title went to N Imocha of VSAI while the man of the tournament title was bagged by Ch Deven of IVFA.

The fair play award went to ATVFA.

Y Khogen of UVPA (7 goals) emerged the top scorer.

Ng Brajakumar, Principal of DM College of Commerce attended the final as the chief guest while L Achou Singh, president of Eikhoigee Club and Th Ibomcha Sharma, Associate Professor of DM College of Commerce attended the final as the president and guest of honour respectively.
