Noney, October 03 2023: The 1st District Level Inter-School Sports, Literary and Cultural Meet-2023 kicked off today at Longmai Common Ground Longmai-3, Noney district headquarters under the aegis of Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RANSOM) & Longmai Students' Union (LSU) .

Dinganglung Gangmei, MLA of Nungba AC (ST); Joseph Pauline Kamson, Deputy Commissioner Noney graced the inaugural function of the meet organised under the theme "Quest for Excellence" as the chief guest and guest of honour among other top officials of various departments.

Chief guest Dinganglung Gangmei spoke on the importance of games and sports, especially among the students.

He said games and sports are very important parts of the students' lives for proper physical & mental growth.

"Healthy body is a healthy mind", he said while adding that proper time management, strong determination and hard work are key to success.

He also expressed regret that Chief Minister N Biren could not attend the function due to the restive situation in the State.

The CM was to formally announce some developments for Noney district headquarters including Fire Service Sub Station, Football turf, Open Gym Amusement park etc but the same have been entrusted to him, Dinganglung Gangmei said.

He, on behalf of the CM also announced recognition of Jadonang Memorial College by UGC,commencement of academic session of DIET Training Centre next year 2024 besides handing over of an ambulance to the Noney CMO, he continued.

He further said that many more development projects for Noney districts are in the pipeline.

March-Past Competition among 18 contingents, Mob Dance Show by Tazei Public Hr Sec School Longmai -2, Cultural Dance Show by Jadonang Memorial College, were the highlight of the day before the commencement of football and volleyball events.

DLOs, BLOs, School Principals/Headmasters/Headmistresses, students, village leaders of Longmai area and general public also witnessed the colourful events.

The meet will run till October 7 .
