Jai Hind HS clinch U-15 and U-17 Boys' titles; Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba HS emerge U-17 girls' champions

Jai Hind Govt High School, Imphal East claimed both the U-15 and U-17 boys' titles at the State Level Inter School JN Hockey Tournament, 2018 organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak while Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba were crowned U-17 girls' champions.
In the U-15 boys' competition final, Jai Hind Govt High School notched up an impressive 6-1 win over Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba High School to become champions and will represent the State at the 36th Sub-Junior Boys Hockey Tournament 2018 to be held in New Delhi from October.
13 to 24.Jai Hind Govt High School made a good start and made a concerted effort to wind up the game 6-1 through goals coming from Bidyananda (5'), N Amarjit (10'), K Rohit (13'), I Robert (21'), N Dutta (28') and Kh Somokanta (29') .
The lone goal of the Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba High School was scored by L Sushilkumar in the 40th minute.
The U-17 girls final match saw Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba High School beat Jai Hind Govt HS by 5-2 goals via penalties after a goalless draw during normal time.
In the penalty shoot-out, K Silvia, K Eleena, Sh Tanu, T Ayingbi and M Helena beat the keeper of the Imphal East side while only E Devika and L Chinglemba scored for the Jai Hind Govt High School.
The winners, Nongchup Imphal Sagoltongba High School will be representing Manipur at the 25th Junior Girls Hockey Tournament 2018 to be held from October 1 to 12 at Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi.
U-17 Boys competition
Jai Hind Govt HS produced a fine performance in the final match of the U-17 boys competition and thrashed Shining Star Academy, Bishnupur by 9-0 margin.
A hattrick from Y Bidyananda (23', 40', 43') and two goals each from I Stalin (1', 8'), T Rikcy (16', 53') and Ronex (47', 58') ensured Jai Hind Govt HS's the demolishing win.
Earlier, Shining Star Academy drubbed Charangpat HS, Thoubal by 4-0 margin in the first semi-final match while Jai Hind Govt HS overcame Hiyanglam HS, Kakching by 2-1 goals to set up final clash with the Bishnupur side.
The U-17 team of Jai Hind HS will also represent Manipur at the 46th Junior Boys Hockey Tournament to be held from October 25 to November 4 at Shivaji Stadium, New Delhi.
The valedictory function of the tournament was graced by Kh Pramoda Devi, Joint Director Youth Affairs and Sports; Lunkhosei Haokip, Deputy Director, YAS; Y Bony Singh, DYASO, Imphal East; Sandhyarani, DYASO, Bishnupur and S Maniratna, Football Coach as dignitaries who also gave away prizes to the winners of the tournament.
