Awangbow opens SDSA Inter-School Sports Meet-2024

Senapati District Inter-School Sports Meet-2024 organised by the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) was formally opened by Awangbow Newmai, Minister for Water Resources, Relief and Disaster Management.
Khashim Vashum, Minister for Transport, V&AH; L Dikho, MLA, Mao AC and MLA J Kumo Sha, Karong AC also graced the opening function.
Peter Yunuo, President, SDSA welcomed everyone to the Inter-School Sports Meet held under the theme "Chase Your Dreams" .
He also dwelled on sports which teach the importance of setting goals, working hard, and never giving up, no matter the obstacles one faces.

Senapati district has a proud history of nurturing talented athletes who have pursued their dreams with determination and made the district proud at various levels, he noted while encouraging them to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.
May the sports meet be a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved, he wished while urging all to cheer each other on, celebrate one's success and continue to chase their dreams with unwavering determination.
Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Awangbow urged the students to present their ambitions and desire to God.
The Minister said that God listens to a sincere prayer assuring that God will fulfill their dreams.
Stating that the best time in one's life is students' lives, the chief guest urged the students to study seriously and to enlarge the horizon of reasoning as education gives knowledge.
He also prayed for speedy return of normalcy in the State.
Speaking at the occasion, Khashim Vashum stated that people of the hills were not well acquainted with sports in the past but are slowly realising its importance.
He also urged the students to chase their dreams and advised them to study harder so that they do not regret later in life.
He also said that the students of the district are fortunate as students in ethnic clash hit districts are yet to avail regular classes till date.
Chief Minister N Biren was also invited for the opening of the sports meet but could not attend the event.
In his letter addressed to the students, he said he was glad to see the youth gather to celebrate and participate in the vibrant event, which marks the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the schools of the district.
He also expressed regret that he could not join in person due to unfavourable weather conditions that prevented his travel to Senapati for the inauguration ceremony.
He also maintained that he is committed to thoroughly reviewing the demands to make every effort to address and fulfill the needs and aspirations of the district students as mentioned in a memorandum from the Senapati District Students Association.
Altogether, 19 different schools across the district are taking part in the Inter-school sports meet, 2024 .
Earlier, Water Resources Minister, Awangbow Newmai inaugurated the office of the SDSA before the commencement of the inaugural session.
