Besii Ariijii from Senapati to represent India in MMA world championship

Senapati, December 02 2024:
Twenty three years old Besii Ariijii hailing from Punanamei village (Mao) under Senapati district has been selected to represent the country (India) in the senior category at the GAMMA World championship, scheduled to take place in Jakarta Indonesia from December 6 to 14, 2024 .
Ariijii, son of Sani Besii, won the bronze medal in the Asia championship in 2022 and bagged the gold medal in a National level event in 2022.Ariijii said he has been staying in Delhi for the last 2 months and undergoing hard training involving 4-6 hours of daily practice.
Sources said he is the only MMA athlete from Manipur to represent the Nation in the senior category.
His fight is scheduled on December 11, 2024 .
Ariijii said that his family has sponsored him financially for the training and flight tickets and other expenses and had not received any financial support from the Government or any organization.
Ariijii, a graduate from Tadubi Hill College through correspondent, has three brothers and 2 sisters.
He further said he is seriously giving his full time in sports.
It may be noted that more than 500 athletes representing 78 countries across 5 continents are set to compete at this GAMMA event.
He started his training from Combat Athletic Training Academy (CATA) in Senapati which is a training centre from combat sports, mixed martial Arts (MMA) and combat fitness since 2018 with self determination and passion and he has displayed his fight in various cities including Guwahati, Bengaluru and others.
