North East Regional Sports Week Manipur win men's football crown as women's team reach final; bag three medals in compound archery events
Manipur men's team lifted football crown in the ongoing North East Regional Sports Week as the women's team reached final .
Men's team beat Tripura 1-0 thanks to C Sailenlal goal in the 29th minute to seal the title.
Yesterday in the first semi-final match, Kh Lucky double (40+1' and 71') both on penalties helped Manipur edged out Mizoram 2-1.Lawmsangzuala did pull back a goal for Mizoram in the 79th minute but it was too late for the team to make their way back.
Meanwhile in the other semi-final match, Tripura beat Assam 5-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in the regulation time.
In the shoot-out, Didwm, Fungkha and Urjay could only find the target for Assam as Bulemani, Boyer, Kutal Jamatia, Pranab and Debraj all scored for Tripura.
In the women's football first semi-final matches staged at SAI Turf at Takyel today, Manipur blanked Nagaland 4-0 and Sikkim beat Assam 2-0 to complete the final line up.
Final is scheduled tomorrow.
Manipur continued their fine form and were 2-0 ahead till the break before the 4-0 rout of Nagaland as S Rinaroy scored twice.
Rinaroy opened the scoring in the 7th minute before Ksh Naocha made it 2-0 after 15 minutes.
Rinaroy rose again to complete her double in the 55th minute and M Mandakini sealed the deal during the stoppage time (80+2') .
Later in the last semi-final match, second half goals from Lako (55') and Nimita Gurung (76') helped Sikkim beat Assam and seal the final berth.
Archery : Manipur men's compound team bag gold
Manipur men's team of H Teuton, L Yohenba, S Johnson and O Henary were able to win a gold beating Assam team of Ujjal Kumar Bora, Manab Jyoti Barman, Arbab Jyoti Barman and Hemanta Boro 30-27 in the shootoff after the two sides were levelled at 226 in the final.
Nagaland team finished third in this event.
Manipur women's team comprising Senyai Thongam, Paonam Lily Chanu, Ksh Manglemsana and Mutum Rupan Devi in the meantime earned a silver going down 220-227 in the final against Assam.
Manipur's mixed team of H Teuton and Paonam Lily Chanu also bagged a silver medal securing 152 points in the final against Assam's 153 .
Badminton : Bidyasagar Salam vs Laa Talar in men's singles final
Manipur's Bidyasagar will play Laa Talar of Arunachal Pradesh in the men's singles final as Ksh Maheshwari Devi and H Valinda set up all Manipur women's singles final.
Bidyasagar reached the final beating Laa Robin of Arunachal Pradesh 21-6, 21-8 in a semi-final match before Laa Talar beat Manipur's Sirzeet Moirangthem in another semi-final match.
Ksh Maheshwari Devi in the meantime defeated Disha Sarma of Assam 21-12, 21-17 in a semi-final match to set up a final date with H Valinda.
The day also saw men's doubles, women's double and mixed doubles teams entering the final.
The mixed pair team of K Dingku and K Priya Devi beat Lalrinawma and Agnes Lalwmpuli of Mizoram 21-9, 19-21, 21-11 in a semi-final match as women's pair of Kh Priya Devi and Ksh Maheshwari Devi beat Nagaland's Chubanungla and Yashikala pair 21-4, 21-8 to confirm their final berth.
K Dingku and Kh Manjit on the other hand beat Laldintluanga Tlau and Lalrinawma pair 21-13, 21-18 to set up final date with Sangram Chutia and Suraj Goala of Assam who beat Arunachal Pradesh pair Bikom Boje and Charu Jaji 21-17, 21-16 in another semi-final match.
