11th Manipur Veteran Cricket Championship : Blue Hawk cruise to win over UCC by 41 runs

Blue Hawk cruised to a comfortable win over UCC by 41 runs in the 11th Manipur Veteran Cricket Championship today.
On winning the toss, Blue Hawk opted to bat and riding on some notable contributions from Uttam 39 runs off 56 balls, Brojendro 38 off 68 balls, Nabachandra 21 off 25 balls and Sanjoy 12 off eight balls notched up a total of 168 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 30 overs.
For UCC Sharat, L Surjit and Th Dilip chipped in with two wickets each to restrict Blue Hawk at 168 runs.
Set a modest target of 169 runs, the UCC batsmen however did not really get into the groove of the match with wickets falling at regular interval.
Bobby led the charge for the Blue Hawk attacks, scalping three wickets and aided by Hemchandra, Anand and Uttam who chipped in with two wickets each.
The UCC batsmen struggled to get in line with the ball and only Bhorot with 27 runs off 40 balls and Sarat with 18 runs off 35 could reach the double digit mark.
Dilip chipped in with 9 runs off 12 balls.
Keeping a tight line and length and with some fine fielding, the Blue Hawk players outplayed the UCC players with both ball and bat.
Uttam of Blue Hawk who top scored with 39 runs and took two valuable wickets walked away with the man of the match award.
The tournament is being organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association, which is affiliated to the Board of Veteran Cricket in India.
In the first semi-final scheduled on February 5, CHAMP (Khagempalli) will take on CYCLONE (Thangmeiband) while in the second final on February 6, Model CLub (Chingamakha) will take on NAPSA (Nambul Mapal) .
