12th Manipur State League SSU beat YPHU, NEROCA demolish FC Zalen by whooping margin of 6-1

The 12th Manipur State League which was postponed due to incessant rain and unfavourable climatic condition resumed today at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak.
In today’s matches, SSU, Singjamei edged past Young Physique Union (YPHU) 1-0 while NEROCA FC, Sangakpham thrashed Football Club Zalen (FC Zalen), Sadar Hills with an emphatic 6-1 margin .
In the first encounter, SSU and YPHU fought well to escape from the relegation zone .
The first-half of the match saw no goals as both teams marked each other forwards well and did not allow much space in the goal area .
The second-half tilted a bit towards SSU with more ball possession.
They started offensive raids with crisp passing and positioning.
To counter the moves, YPHU also made few runs using the flanks and midfield, but was unsuccessful as the defence line of SSU stuck firm defying all possible entry .
In the dying minutes of the match, M Robinson made a fine run and nicely tapped the ball past the defenders towards Th Shribas who was well placed.
Shribas collected the ball and rifled in the ball beating the custodian of YPHU to score the most precious goal in the 90th minute .
O Premkumar of SSU and RK Robi of YPHU were yellow-carded in the 44th minute and during additional time respectively .
The win propelled SSU to the sixth place with 8 points in 6 matches of the 12-team league table while YPHU are placed 11th in the table .
In the second battle, NEROCA FC and FC Zalen, who were tight competitors in the last edition, played out an exciting match that upheld the spirit of the game and satisfied the spectators and fans who were cheering them from the gallery.
NEROCA controlled the mid field with clinical passing and better understandingfrom the beginning.
Their efforts yielded positive result when Ch Sushilkumar found the opener in the 19th minute with a cross from the left flank by midfielder S Subhash .
Taking the advantage of the defensive lapses of the nervous Zalen, Felix Odili Chidi and Ng Ronald took turns to add two goals for their team.
Felix scored the second goal in the 26th minute while Ng Ronald made his clinical shot in the 31st minute to establish 3-0 lead.
Two minutes later, midfielder M Subhash made a solo run and unleashed a powerful shot to make it 4-0 .
Spurred by the huge lead, Zalen turned on attacking mode in the ending minutes of the first half and Paolenlal Khongsai emerged from the midfield and collected a beautiful pass from Paokhomang and struck a goal in the 44th minute to reduce the goal deficit by one .
After the breather,Zalen were awarded with a penalty kick as Kallon Varneyk of NEROCA struck the ball with his hand while trying to block a kick from Paokhongam.
However, they squandered the golden chance as Paolenlal Khongsai failed to convert the penalty kick into a goal which was deftly punched out by NEROCA goalkeeper, Bishorjit .
Despite the three goals lead, NEROCA resumed their attacking shortly after the penalty kick.
In these frenetic efforts, David Lalbiakzara was cautioned with a yellow card for unsporting behaviour.
David was sent off with another yellow card for using foul words, reducing NEROCA to a ten men army in the 72nd minute of the match.Y Gopi struck the 5th goal for NEROCA when found the net in the 82nd minute.
Barely two minutes after the score, Felix Odili rushed in the goal area and outstepped few defenders and banged in the last goal of the match to make it 6-1 .
