SSU crush NACO by 5-1 as 9th Manipur State League kicks off

Imphal, September 01 2014: Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei crushed Nambulmapal Athletics and Cultural Organisation (NACO) by a margin of 5 goals to one as the 9th Manipur State League kicks off today at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

The 9th edition of the State league, sponsored by MLA Khumukcham Joykishan is participating by 12 elite clubs of the State which got qualified from the different districts through district leagues.

The inaugural function was graced by Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Md Abdul Nashir and MLA K Sarat as chief guest and president respectively.

In the opening match of the day, Gogocha struck a hatrick to claim 5-1 victory for SSU against NACO.

Within a minute from kick off time, SSU's Th Roshan heads a beautiful corner kick from MD Imran Khan into goalmouth and opened his side's first goal.

As the match progress, SSU's L Gogocha successfully converted a pass from his teammate Th Santosh into scond goal for his team in 40th minutes.

Th Roshan secured another goal for SSU in 46th minutes leading the scoreline 3-0, right after 4 minutes SSU's L Gogocha contributed one more goal (49th) for the team.

NACO's K Newton contributed the first goal for his team in a corner kick from Md Amir Khan in 90th minutes of the match.

L Gogocha struck a hatrick by scoring the 5th goal for the team in the addtional time.

SSU's Th Santosh (5th), NACO's N Rajesh Meitei (31'th), and K Somen (first half) got yellow cards for unsuporting behaviours.

Tomorrow, Tiddim Road Union Gammy Player's Union, Nambol will play Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM) at 1.30 pm at Mapal Kangjeibung Imphal.
