Saikhom Mirabai Chanu felicitated

Imphal, August 01 2021: A team of activists of CSOs of the State visited the residence of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and congratulated her for the historic feat by clinching a Silver medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020 thereby making the State and the entire nation proud.

Speaking on the occasion, vice president of IPSA, Khuraijam Athouba expressed joy at the glorious achievement of Mirabai Chanu and stated that all should extend unconditional support to her for the success of all her future endeavours.

Advisor of CLK, A Langdol Leima presented a Lengyan phee (shawl) to Mirabai Chanu and gifted her some monetary award as well.

President of KSA, Chetan, vice president, Bidyananda, vice president of ACOAM Lup, Sanouba, IPR secretary of UCM, Leishemba Lamaba were also present on the occasion among others.

Macha Leima (Manipur Chanura Leishem Marup), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur and All manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWOVA) have congratulated Saikhom Mirabai Chanu on winning Silver medal at 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Weightlifting.

In different statements issued by the organisations, they said Mirabai Chanu has shown again that Manipur women are strong and capable of achieving great heights despite many setbacks.

The statements also appealed to the Government to include a chapter about the life of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in school education in the State to inspire more youths to follow the steps of the high achievers.
