State Games for persons with disabilities

The 3rd State Games for persons with disabilities, 2014 organized by Special Olympic Bharat, Manipur Chapter in collaboration with Senapati Disable People Associations, Manipur, and was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt of India was held at Senapati Public Ground for the Senapati District.
The SSA department, Senapati too closely monitored and assisted in organizing the Sports Meet by deputing 15 special teachers along with some other staff from the department.
The Disable People's Organisation of Churachandpur also took part on the programme.
About 75 persons with various impairments participated in varied games, like Athletics, Bocce, Badminton and Football.
The games meet ended in a joyous note but the brighter side of the day was, the service rendered to the whole district.
During the mid-day after the refreshment, the Special Olympic Bharat-Manipur Chapter and the SDPAM initiated a social service drive at the Senapati Public Ground, bare handedly.
Young and old with their disabilities along with some hired coolies from the town carried out cleanliness drive at the drain of the VIP gallery and the rest of the ground.
Water bottles, plastics, disposal plates & cups, sweet covers, papers and wrapping covers were collected and disposed by the KSTC dipper.
It is an eye opening service by the lame, mentally retarded, blind, deaf, and dumb and the disfigured for all the able men and women in the district to care and protect the public property.
The organizer and the disable reconciled with the environment in such overwhelming sight teaching able person.
The social service on their (disable person) day out would be bitter pill for normal men to swallow.
General Secretary, Senapati District Olympic Association RS Abel, Area Director, Special Olympic Bharat-Manipur Chapter M Vedha Chandra Singh were the Chief Guest and President of the occasion respectively.
In the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest congratulated and encouraged the participants and the organizers.
He also stated that people with disabilities, though physically deprived, are not lacking behind in mental calibers.
The Chief Guest, a sportsmen himself urged the participants that winning is the goal but participation in the game is the spirit of a sportsmen.
Zou, the Churachandpur Disable Organization also exhorted on the occasion.
The disable leader appealed to all the differently able persons not to hide their potentials but to expose it and feel proud of it.
