Physically Challenged Sports Meet begins

Imphal, February 01 2018: State Level Physically Challenged Sports Meet 2018 organised by All Manipur Disable and Handicapped Person Association has kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in the presence of CAF & PD Minister, Karam Shyam, Dr Y Radheshyam, Chairman , Manipur Industrial Development Corporation, L Sorojini Devi, convenor, Weaver cell, BJP Manipur Pradesh who attended the function as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour.

Around 150 differently abled persons from Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Imphal West, Thoubal, Imphal East and Ukhrul districts are participating in this sports meet which include distance running, throwing challenge and jumping events.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Karam Shyam encouraged the physically challenged persons to lead a happy life with firm determination and integrity like all other normal peoples do.

He also urged the general public not to look down upon those who are disabled by birth or by accident and appealed all for a collective effort to reduce all disparities between the normal persons and the disabled persons.

He also extended monetary help to the organiser on the occasion.

The organiser also submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister via Minister Karam Shyam.

In today's low group locomotor disabled long jump event, Paominlun from Churachandpur secured first position with a record 2.10 m jump and Paoginthang of the same district claimed second spot by jumping 1.70 m.
