14th Kanti Hockey tourney:It is MEIRAA against MPSC in the final

Imphal, February 01 2013: After winning their respective semi final matches today, MEIRAA, Bashikhong and Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) have entered into the final of the ongoing 14th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament 2012-13 organised by Hockey Manipur at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, Imphal.

The first semi final match played between MEIRAA, Bashikhong and ARC, Shillong ended in a draw with the score position at 3-3 during the normal time.

In penalty shoot out, MEIRAA scored five goals against three of ARC and entered final.

The three goals of MEIRAA during the normal time were scored by Th Tompok, Th Kirankumar and N Jenjin in the 29thm 15th and 59th minutes of the match respectively.

On the other hand the three goals of ARC were scored by RK Anandajit, M Silananda and P Rahul in the 6th, 62nd and 69th minutes of the match respectively. Th Rakesh of MEIRAA and M Sashikumar of ARC were issued a yellow card each for playing fouls during the match.

In the penalty shoot out, the sucessful shots of MEIRAA were taken by O Tolen, N Jenjin, Th Anthony, Th Tompok and Th Kirankumar.

While the successful shots of ARC were taken by P Rahul, LH Thanga and Th Hemjit.

A shot of M Sashikumar was saved by the goalkeeper of MEIRAA which became the golden opportunity for MEIRAA to win their berth in the final.

Later, in the second sei final match, MPSC thrashed a goalless Hockey Union (HU), Lairikyengbam Leikai with four goals.

P Adeva of MPSC scored two goals in the 20th and 42nd minutes of the match while his teammates S Tarun and L Priyokumar scored one goal each in the 22nd and 58th minutes of the match respectively.

The final match will be played on February 3 between MEIRAA, Bashikhong and MPSC.

While the third place match will be played between ARC, Shillong and HU, Lairikyengbam Leikai tomorrow.
